Pearls Are Chic Again Not since the fifties has there been such a rush for pearls. "Out of style" from the sixties through the eighties, pearls re-entered the fashion scene in the nineties. Powerful women making waves in business and high technology looked to the sea--South Sea pearls, to be exact. These gorgeous, super lustrous specimens, 12 millimeters and beyond, made the appropriate important statement. Hillary Clinton is devoted to her South Sea Pearl choker and matching earrings, as was Princess Diana to her many exquisite pieces with unique large pearls. While the trend for the South Sea variety has somewhat subsided, pearls in general are more popular than ever. Jewels By Christine has been incorporating pearls into many designs since our beginning, and will continue. We love Black Tahitian and freshwater pearls, and you can see how we have used them in our new Cocktail Collection. The look is distinct and luxurious, as we have found high luster, large pearls, and combined them with 24 carat gold, vermeil, sterling and precious and semi-precious stones. As far as I'm concerned, I never met a pearl I didn't like! |
